It’s that time of year again! Gone are the long hot days at the lake. Time to dust off the gear and start prepping for Opening Day at your favorite Tahoe Ski Resort! With the snow already falling, it’s not hard to imagine that it’ll be a busy ski season for the 2022-2023 year. Here’s the inside scoop on each resort:
Last year, Palisades Tahoe was the first Tahoe ski area to turn on the lifts and begin operations, introducing a new surface lift and beginner lesson package. To prepare for this season, Palisades Tahoe is replacing the Red Dog chairlift with a high speed 6-seat lift and installing a base-to-base gondola that will connect with Alpine Meadows. Heavenly Resort and Northstar Resort are expected to open first and kick off the ski season by the third week of November. So far, Palisades has accumulated 14 inches of snow and is expected to hit an average of 400 inches by the end of the winter season. Snow is already being piled up to form the miles of groomed trails and world-famous pipes and steeps that attract amateur and professional skiers from all over. Locals looking to experience as many slopes as possible, you can ski at Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood for a combined total of $569 with the Tahoe Local Pass. Also available for purchase is the Epic Pass; unlimited access and no restrictions for $899,000 and includes ski resorts all over the country. Comparatively, the best views can found at Homewood Ski Resort and is considered a local’s favorite for powder skiing. Tahoe Donner Ski Resort, with plenty of beginner terrain and a family-friendly atmosphere, it’s a great place to learn or work on your skills.
